Tawahudna Triumph: Celebrating Jadara's Changemakers
Irbid, Jordan – January 8, 2025
Jadara University’s Faculty of Educational Sciences celebrated the graduation of 40 students from the Tawahudna program on January 8, 2025. This initiative, a partnership between Jadara University and World Associates LTD, marks a significant milestone in advancing education and training for special education students and professionals, particularly those focused on autism care in Jordan. With an MoU signed and launched in August 2024, the program was designed to address the growing need for skilled caregivers equipped to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The Tawahudna program offered participants a robust, two-phase curriculum comprising 48 hours of intensive training. Blending academic theory with practical strategies, the program empowered participants with evidence-based tools tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals with autism and their families in Jordan. A particular emphasis was placed on underserved communities, ensuring the program’s benefits reached those who need them most.
During the ceremony, Jadara University President, Dr. Habes Al-Zboon, lauded the graduates for their dedication and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about autism. “Specialized training like this not only improves care for individuals with ASD but also fosters inclusivity and understanding in our communities,” Dr. Al-Zboon stated. He expressed pride in the graduates and acknowledged the program’s trainers for their invaluable contributions.
World Associates’ Head of Programs, Mr. Amer Bani Hassan, underscored the program’s impact, noting significant skill improvements among participants. “The results speak volumes. We witnessed a 567% improvement in the first training phase and a 266% increase in the second phase,” he shared. “These metrics reflect the participants’ commitment and the program’s effectiveness in equipping them to provide exceptional care.”
Ms. Lama Haddad, the Tawahudna Program Coordinator at Jadara University and the International Relations lead officer, and the team of expert trainers received special recognition for their pivotal roles in the program’s success. Their dedication ensured that participants were not only well-prepared but also deeply inspired to make a lasting difference in their communities.
The program also focused on building a deeper understanding of autism by distinguishing between meltdowns and tantrums, equipping caregivers with targeted response strategies. Moreover, it emphasized the importance of fostering stronger caregiver-child connections. By encouraging caregivers to allow children to take the lead in interactions, the program aimed to create more enriching and supportive environments.
Graduates of the Tawahudna program leave with advanced skills, ready to improve the lives of individuals with autism and their families. The program’s success extends beyond its participants, fostering a ripple effect of greater awareness and collaboration in autism care across Jordan.
This graduation ceremony not only celebrated individual achievement but also underscored the transformative power of education and community-focused initiatives in addressing pressing social challenges.
Looking ahead, World Associates, LTD remains steadfast in its commitment to expand the reach of the Tawahudna program. Plans are already in motion to engage more students from Jadara University in the second semester of 2024/2025, ensuring that even more professionals are equipped with the knowledge and tools to make a meaningful difference in autism care across Jordan and beyond.
