English Language Programs
The Multiverse of Disah
What does the program offer?
English for Young Men
The Disah English training program offers tailored classes for males 13-years-old and older. Eight-week classes are divided into beginner, upper beginner, lower intermediate, and upper intermediate levels. Students focus on conversational skills with practice in reading and writing as well. Depending on the student, content focuses on practical skills for the local Wadi Rum tourism industry or towards college preparation.
English for Girls
The Disah Summer Girls’ Clubs serves elementary age girls. Typically, 3rd and 4th graders are in one class and 5th and 6th graders are in another. The sessions include games, songs, and activities on the topics that the girls study in their English classes at school. The aim is to improve their English skills for better success in school.
The Disah Teen Girls’ Conversation Club serves girls above 6th grade. This is a conversation program based on the needs and interests of the students. Topics include social media, friendships, family relationships, and future goals. The aim is to improve their communication skills for success in further studies and future employment.
What is this program for?
The program offers English training to open new livelihood opportunities for the Bedouin in the Wadi Rum Area. English language skills remain a limiting factor for local students to enter advanced educational programs and for locally-owned tourist camps to further develop their marketing.
