Unlocking Potential: Two Decades of Access and Beyond

Amman, Jordan — August 2024 — “In learning, you will teach, and in teaching, you will learn.” This theme guided the “Unlocking Potential: Two Decades of Access and Beyond” conference, a four-day training event implemented by FHI360, Education and Culture Affairs, World Associates and the Regional English Language Office Team (U.S. Embassy (Amman)). The conference brought together Access teachers from across Jordan, focusing on enhancing their skills and impact within the English Access Scholarship Program.

Conference Highlights:

• Community Building: The event began with sessions on fostering strong classroom communities, equipping teachers with practical strategies to enhance student engagement.

• Lesson Planning: Teachers participated in hands-on sessions focused on creating impactful lesson plans, including innovative approaches to addressing global challenges like the water crisis.

• Community Service: Trainers emphasized the vital role of community service in the Access Program, highlighting its impact on students and communities alike. 

• Creative Reflection: The final day featured creative activities, including mural creation, allowing participants to reflect on their learning. The event concluded with a closing ceremony, honoring the contributions of all involved.

Mr. Kevin Skillin, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy (Amman), at a reception hosted by World Associates, delivered remarks celebrating the program’s 20th anniversary and its ongoing legacy.
